Part ten of Wrath of the First Lantern is here bu can it continue building on the turnaround I saw in Green Lantern #19? Actually, yes, it can. For the second week in a row we have a case of me going into a Green Lantern book with low expectations, and being pleasantly surprised ith what I find. While certain plot points, particularly the nature of Mogo’s involvement in the story, come off as a bit iffy in my eyes, overall it’s an entertaining issue and builds well towards the coming final battle with Volthoom.

The main thrust of this particular issue is definitely getting us set up for the finale coming next month. While last week’s Green Lantern served to prepare Sinestro and presumably Hal Jordan and Simon Baz for the final fight, Green Lantern Corps #19 serves to prepare the rest of the Corps and Fatality, with the exception of Kyle Rayner who I’m sure with get his turn next week. This is a particularly action heavy issue, featuring a four page brawl involving the entire Corps and that is certainly a mark in the book’s favor.

A month away from the conclusion of Wrath of the First Lantern and I’m starting to rethink I’m position on the storyline as it finally seems to be picking up. I am a bit torn though, I don’t want to get my hopes to high for the remaining issues as going in with low expectations seems to be working out. So, between this week and last week, I’d say Green Lantern was more interesting, but Green Lantern Corps #19 definitely continued the momentum as we draw ever nearer to the story’s conclusion.
