AllNewXMen36

With five issues behind us, the introduction/coming of mutantdom (as opposed to coming of age) and the 616/Ultimate crossover comes to an end this week. After such a jaunt through the Ultimate Universe for the All-New X-Men, is it possible to bring this arc to a satisfying conclusion?

GuardiansOfTheGalaxy24

After its Alpha issue debut last week “The Black Vortex” continues this week in the pages of Guardians of the Galaxy. We’ve already seen one hero “fall” to the temptation of this ancient artifact, can another really be that far behind? And what of the villains? Where do they factor in? Exactly where will the battle lines be drawn as this three month journey enters its second chapter?

Divinity1

Jumping blind into a new Valiant title is a different experience for me. It’s not something I do that often and generally speaking I’m not overly familiar with Valiants books, having only read a few here and there. By contrast, jumping blind into a new Marvel or DC title, even if I don’t know what to expect, there is a certain sense of familiarity, because I know the world that the book exists in. I don’t have that same luxury with a Valiant title. That has it’s own benefits though, such as a sense of wonder. In the case of Divinity though, I’m not sure if that’s actually a help or a hindrance.

DetectiveComics39

Anarky continues to rule in the streets of Gotham City and things are looking anything but up for our Caped Crusader. But in this the penultimate issue of this arc, are there answers to be found, or will Brian Buccellato and Francis Manapul only give us more questions? Questions like, is Anarky, actually going to have a significant physical role in this issue?

GuardiansOfTheGalaxyAndXMenTheBlackVortexAlpha

Welcome to the next big Guardians and X-Men crossover event! It’s time for the terror of “The Black Vortex!” I have to admit though, unlike last year’s “The Trial of Jean Grey,” I am not as prepared as I should, or even as I thought I was. I’m going to do my best here to follow everything that’s going on and that I may be a little behind on. It’ll almost be like jumping in fresh, as some of you may be doing.

StarWars2

Things went pretty well for our heroes in last month’s premiere issue, but with Darth Vader making the scene this time around, it’s a pretty safe bet that things are going to go sour, really quickly. We’ve seen this before though, so what are Jason Aaron and the rest of the team bringing to make Darth Vader vs. the heroes of the Rebellion worth it once again?
