The summary attached to the digital copy of this issue is only to words, and they could not be more accurate. The aftermath. The Death of Everyone and issue #100 have come and gone and so here, Robert Kirkman is thankfully kind enough to let us all catch our breath. I’ll admit to personally being a bit let down by the Death of Everyone arc, but that’s as much my own fault as anything. It’s not that it was bad, it’s just that I only started reading this series, from issue #1, maybe 4 months before the arc started so I was aware of it pretty much from the start and my expectations had ample room to be built up too high for anything to reach because the series as a whole is s good. Now, that said, issue #101 was certainly not a disappointment to me.

More often then not I have found that a book just being the aftermath of what had come before tends to mean nothing particularly unmissable is happening. Here though, while it is very much an in between issue, and a wonderful jumping on point, it is after all, as the cover makes clear, the one hundred an “1st issue”, Robert Kirkman does an excellent job of still making it a worthwhile read for those of us who aren’t just picking up the book for the first time.

Presumably big things are coming for Invincible and everyone around him, with Invincible Universe debuting in just two weeks, and this issue does a great job of getting us ready. Though relatively light on action, there is enough recap here to get new readers up to speed, continuing plot lines to keep old readers interested and foreshadowing to me us all want to see what comes next.
